Abstract

Australian regional communities are changing due to out-migration and ageing populations. In this context, volunteer effort remains a vital part of building community resilience and social capital. This paper presents the results of a project examining barriers to and incentives for youth volunteering across three regional local government areas in South Australia, proposing a new model that prioritises events, partnerships, social media, and institutional bridging.
